energy on Earth is no longer a problem, the Lunar has found a way to generate cleanly and not harmful exploiting the material they are made of rocks on the dark side of the Moon. A supervise the work of machines has been given a base on the natural satellite of Earth inhabited only by a computer-rounder by the human voice and a man, alone, almost at the end of his three long years of the contract and increasingly the victim of jokes fatigue and loneliness bring him. It will be a near-fatal accident to disrupt the mechanism of deception that lies behind his work unexpectedly putting it in contact with another self. Probably ate
water rationing rice cakes all the time working to be able to make a film with such ridiculous budget of 5 million dollars. Production Designer extended to digital, some tricks poor (but effective!) And a nice soundstage equipped properly, so the director Duncan Jones was enough to make his first film a true work of science fiction classic.
Jones shows good to know that science fiction is inside the head of the viewer, who does not like the spaceships in itself but that infinite and mysterious silent desolation of the spaces within which they move, which forces people to go to the roots of concept of "humanity" by reviewing the relationship they have with others or with machines.
Jones replicates the conditions in order to elicit a spontaneous reaction in the audience and then betraying it. Gerty, the onboard computer handyman from monotonous voice, not only recalls HAL 9000 but seems to follow the groove, at least to a certain extent, the same way as the hexagonal shapes that make up the lunar base, the excess of black and white, the suits, the characters written on the screen and made all the technology of video phones and small buttons are not illuminated in line with what we imagine to the movies today for our tomorrow, but imagine what could be our future's golden era science fiction. Standing on the shoulders of giants Jones making us look farther than others breathe the air of the best movies and reserves the right (all same time) to a different vision of the dialectic between man and machine (and in great spirit and matter), in line with what he does another masterpiece of modern science fiction as Wall-e. At the same time, however, when it comes to pulling the strings of many papers fell on the table it appears that the weight of expectation crush the ambitious debut of the son of David Bowie in a finale that, while adequate, is not up to the premises. Moon could be a disaster, as it is on over-molded masterpieces unattainable, and instead is a small gem of a type of cinema is not done in years.
