Già nell’antichità greca, Platone sosteneva che “la musica fa bene al cuore e all’anima”; in tempi più recenti il grande filosofo tedesco Nietzsche scriveva che “la vita senza musica non è vita”. Lavorare per la musica significa perciò lavorare per l’educazione delle persone, significa migliorare la qualità of people's lives, increasing their human and spiritual growth.
Choir opera "Simon Mayr" in Bergamo, founded in 1984 by some of opera lovers, led by Mo CARLO RIVA, sought to build upon these principles.
is currently directed by Mo EXCEPT SGRO ', known and appreciated musician, who collaborated with the major Italian opera tradition, including our theater "Donizetti" and assistant director of the choir of the most important opera companies.
With active teaching of its director, in recent years has assumed a character and technical knowledge that enable him to deal successfully with audiences and critics, the large repertoire lirico.
I suoi interventi nelle varie opere rappresentate, a detta degli esperti del settore, riescono a far emergere quadri di grande coralità, in cui spesso la studiata sovrapposizione delle voci del coro e dei vari personaggi accentua ancor di più il sublime, che è la nota dominante di molte pagine operistiche.
Nel suo repertorio si annoverano numerosi brani delle più famose opere di Bellini, Donizetti, Verdi, Rossini, Bizet, Giordano, Leoncavallo, Mayr, Cherubini, Offenbach, Mozart, Lehàr.
Inoltre esegue integralmente le opere liriche più famose del repertorio romantico e verista italiano,fra le quali l’Elisir d’amore, Don Pasquale e Lucia di Lammermoor di G.Donizetti, La Traviata, The Rigoletto, Ballo in Maschera, Il Trovatore, Verdi's Otello, Tosca, La Bohème, Puccini's Turandot, The Barber of Seville and Rossini's Cenerentola, Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana, Pagliacci Leoncavallo, Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro.
He has performed in numerous concerts, both at provincial and national level and also internationally, with various conductors, orchestras and singers.
Choir "Simon Mayr" in Bergamo worked with various opera circles of Lombardy, which produces concerts, selection of books, complete works. In 2006 he created a partnership with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Lecco, in Lombardy to spread among the general public giovane e tra gli anziani, della musica classica ed in particolare dell’opera lirica.
Nelle stagioni 2007/’08 , 2008/’09, 2009/'10 è stato ospite fisso del teatro Cenacolo Francescano, partecipando a Lecco Lirica , rappresentando con successo “L’Elisir d’amore”di G.Donizetti, “Pagliacci” di R.Leoncavallo,”Il ballo in maschera” e ”La Traviata”d G.Verdi, “La Bohème” di G.Puccini.
Al teatro “Diego Fabbri” di Forlì ha rappresentato nell’aprile del 2009 “Turandot” di G.Puccini.
A Bergamo al teatro S.Sisto di Colognola ha ottenuto lusinghieri consensi con “TRAVIATA”, "Rigoletto" and "Tosca."
The first months of 2010 saw the Choir undertook "Simon Mayr" in Bressanone in "Un Ballo in Maschera" by Verdi, in Lecco in "La Cenerentola" by Rossini and "Otello" by G. Verdi, at Garbagnate Monastery in "La Boheme" by Puccini, at Molteno in "La Traviata" by G. Verdi.
The busy schedules and the success of opera audiences and critics over the past three years is to demonstrate the quantum leap that the choir has done. It originated as a choir of amateurs and remains so, even if the quality of his most recent performance in no way inferior to professional choral groups.
IL MAESTRO SALVO SGRO’
Il Coro “SIMONE MAYR” già dal 1997 ha affidato la direzione musicale e artistica al M° Salvo Sgro’, giovane e apprezzato musicista e pianista. Egli ha compiuto la sua formazione musicale presso il Conservatorio “G.Verdi” di Milano; ha inoltre seguito vari corsi di specializzazione e perfezionamento presso alcune delle più prestigiose istituzioni musicali nazionali.
Ha al suo attivo innumerevoli allestimenti d’opera in qualità di maestro concertatore. Ha inoltre svolto intensa attività come teacher-assistant at major theaters, such as the "Donizetti" in Bergamo, the "Grande" in Brescia, "Ponchielli in Cremona, the" Fenice "in Venice, the" Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence, the Opera House Rome.
From December 2001 to July 2004 he served as chorus master of the theater-collaborator Carlo Felice in Genoa, and currently holds the same post at the Teatro Alla Scala in Milan.
